When you're ready to get better -

Your choice is clear...

Our people make the difference

Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) are essential to the care and treatment you will receive at Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation. When treating you individually, our PTAs will skillfully, courteously and professionally assist you throughout your rehabilitation program.

Each of our PTAs graduated from an accredited college program, and are licensed in the state in which they practice.

PTAs work under the supervision of a Physical Therapist in a cohesive fashion to provide the maximum benefit to you, the patient, for successful rehabilitation.

Lynn Olshavsky, PTA

Lynn joined the Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation team in 1995. Prior to joining our staff, she worked with developmentally disabled children at a facility for special needs preschoolers. It was there that she decided she wanted to pursue a career in the field of physical rehabilitation.

In 1997, Lynn earned her Associate of Science degree from Penn State University. She holds a PTA license for both Pennsylvania and Ohio. Lynn has significant experience in many physical therapy areas. In the interest of adding benefit to a selected segment of our population, Lynn has specialty training for the management of incontinence, low back pain of pregnancy, and other issues affecting women's health.

Melinda Hawkins, PTA

Mindy arrived at Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation in 1998 after earning her Associate of Science degree from Penn State University. Mindy is a licensed PTA in both Pennsylvania and Ohio, and continues to enhance her clinical skills and education.

In addition to her duties at Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation and on-going education, Mindy has, since 1998, been actively preserving the quality of the future of physical therapy of PTAs by working as a lab instructor at Penn State University. With what little time is left, Mindy spends it with her husband and two young children. She also enjoys kayaking and running. Mindy holds a special interest in participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Rebecca Vannoy, PTA

Becca has been with Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation since 2004, and provides caring and effective treatments at our New Wilmington location. Becca credits her mom as the reason she chose Physical Therapy as an occupation, because it was she who pointed out Becca's caring and compassionate nature, and suggested a career in the medical field.

Taking that advice, Becca graduated in 2004 with an Associate of Science degree from Penn State University, where she continues to be a presence as a lab instructor. She is a mother of two, and plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.

Taryn Dobson, MS, PES

Taryn came on board at Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation in October of 2007. She is a 2005 graduate of Marrietta College with a degree in Athletic Training. She then received a Master of Sciences Degree in 2007 in Exercise Science and Health Promotion at California University of Pennsylvania.

Complimenting her credentials, Taryn has pursued and obtained her Performance Enhancement Certification in July of 2007. As such, her focus is in fitness programming, sports medicine and performance enhancement for the competitive athlete.

Taryn has always had a strong interest in athletics, both at a high school and collegiate level. At Marrietta, she played softball four years and was captain her last two years. At the undergraduate level, she worked as an Athletic Trainer for the basketball and football teams while participating in softball. She continues to offer softball and pitching clinics in the Shenango and Mahoning Valleys.

Sarah Hinkson, PTA

As a stay-at-home mom for many years, Sarah has earned her Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Penn State University in 2008. She joined the Penn-Ohio Rehabilitation staff in October, 2008.

Along with staying busy with three daughters, Sarah enjoys volunteering at her church and assisting with the Physical Therapy Assistant Laboratory at Penn State, Shenango.

Shelly Komorek, PTA

As a mother of two, Shelly wanted to continue her career as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She joined Penn-Ohio Rehab as a part-time PTA in March, 2009.

Shelly earned an Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapy Assistant Technology from Kent State University in May, 1994. She is licensed in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. She also received her certification in Massage Therapy from the Sharon Medical Group Office of Chronic Pain Management in August, 1994.

Shelly has worked in various fields of physical therapy and specializes in total hip/knee replacements, exercise training and wound care. She is a volunteer for the Mercer County Senior Olympics.
